Pivotal Payments is a credit card processor and here I am discussing some of the worth mentioning facts that you should be aware of before signing up with them.

They have a decent number of complaints and the problems that have been reported most often are charges for cancellation and terminal leases. Particularly speaking about the merchants who mainly deal with card-present, they should seriously consider the problems that other merchants are reporting against Pivotal Payments and their terminal leasing company Leasing Finance Group (LFG).

On the bright side they have active Facebook fan page, and LinkedIn and Twitter accounts which shows their realization of social media networking and that’s always a plus.

One more thing that I like about them is their active response towards online complaints.

I have scored Pivotal Payments 2.5 out of 5 due to their terminal leasing matter and number of complaints on RipOffReport and, yes of course negative posts that I see at the bottom of this review.

If you are not satisfied with the rates being offered by your current processor then you can ask for my help, otherwise if you intend to go with any other processor then you must see my “credit card processor comparison chart” to make a wise choice.

They’ve partnered with Data Age (POS software), Comca Systems (POS for Dry Cleaners) and ClicNet (eCommerce) to broaden their services.

Pivotal Payments uses Leasing Finance Group (LFG) to handle their terminal leases.

Negative Reviews:
I found quite a few complaints filed against Pivotal Payments on RipOffReport and BBB. But good thing is that they are showing much interest in submitting rebuttals to majority of these complaints so as to keep the matters resolved. So you have a pretty much chance to report whatever issue you have with them and they’ll try to remove your concern.

Common Complaints:

I found that most of the complaints reported against them fall under the category of “Terminal Leases”. Many of the clients have complained about their terminal leases and the third party terminal leasing company Lease Finance Group (LFG) which is responsible for dealing with those leases. So if you plan on signing up with Pivotal Payments then you should seriously consider this issue. The merchants who mostly deal with card-present transaction should opt for the processors with better reputation in these terms.

No testimonials listed on the Pivotal Payments site.

No on-site security features (i.e. Verisign, TrustE, McAfee etc…).

Customer Service:
I haven’t had any experience with Pivotal Payments’ customer service, so if you have, please let us know.

Contract Duration:
3-years with liquidated damages.

Cancellation Fee:
It’s  one of the things that I didn’t like about Pivotal Payments. They charge you for an early termination in two different ways:

  • Fixed fees of $500
  • Liquidated damages kind of fee where fixed amount is multiplied by the number of month you have left in you contract.

So here you can turn to other providers who don’t charge any kind of cancellation fee at all.

Interchange-plus pricing is offered by Pivotal Payments.

Seasonal downtime is also offered.

  1. I unfortunately recently changed to Pivotal Payments. I agree with everything that the previous complaints say. This was the worst business decision I have made in 10yrs ( I can usually sniff the crooks out – they are that good). Higher rate/ not less; more additional fees- was told none; the discount% they tell you about is a CHARGE. The way deposits and withdrawals show up on your bank statement is intentionally confusing, so that you can’t talk to them about it – but oh, you can not take to them – they won’t call you back. NO Customer Service.

  2. Pivotal Payments is a legal crook. I started with them in Jan 2012. No problems till Aug 2013. They kept my visa sales of $5700. In addition they tried to remove an additional $700 from my bank. As a result, I put a ‘stop payment’ on my account. I have complained to BBB, RipOff report, Canadian Gov’t. As a result of my complaints, Pivotal has reversed one $2000 invoice. What explanation do I give my customer for her money being held 10 weeks? Pivotal’s excuse for holding my account is that all my customers for that one month are high risk. According to visa statements, customers only have 30 days for a charge back. How is it legal for Pivotal to hold my August charges until the following April. That is what they are doing and it doesn’t seem like there is anything I can do to stop them. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE just excuses,stories!

    • They kept mine too…mine was $ 7000.00. They did not called me ..I noticed that no deposit since 8 months.
      Tried to cheat..

  3. pivotal infrasture is a cheater company.They take money from investors and are failed to give them flat on right time.They are used to transfer funds to other projects and their projects never completed

Pivotal treated me fairly whenever I have had any issues, no problems with any fees like people are saying here, so maybe I am lucky but customer service was very friendly and my customers like the paying by credit card debit card payment. Frankly I had a good relationship with everyone I spoke to or emailed.
